RIPLEY, W.Va. (WV News) — According to a criminal complaint recently filed at the Jackson County Courthouse, Deputy M. Turley with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office pulled a vehicle over on I-77 for speeding and a cracked tail light. The plate indicated the driver was from Florida.
While speaking with the male driver, later identified as Arthur Stuart Murray, the complaint states the deputy noticed the female passenger, to be identified as Brooklyn Soleil Renaldo, appeared to be extremely nervous.
Once identified, it was noted that Renaldo had a non–extraditable warrant from Ohio and Murray was unlicensed.
Deputy Turley asked Murray to step out of the vehicle and asked for consent to search the car. According to the complaint, Murray gave verbal consent to do so.
During the search, Deputy Turley found drug paraphernalia located in a black bag behind the passenger seat. Located under the center console were two vacuum sealed bags containing what was consistent with methamphetamine.
The complaint states the duo was then read their Miranda Rights and placed under arrest.
While at the Sheriff’s Office, Murray admitted to ownership of the controlled substance, which he said was purchased earlier in the day in Columbus, Ohio. According to the complaint, Murray stated the weight was supposed to be two pounds.
Both Murray and Renaldo are currently being held in South-Central Regional Jail, each on a $200,000 surety/cash bail.
