Former President Donald Trump is set to make an appearance in a Washington, D.C. courtroom this Thursday following an indictment that accuses him of attempting to overturn the 2020 election. In light of this, Trump’s attorney, John Lauro, proposed the possibility of moving the trial to West Virginia.
During an interview on CBS This Morning, Lauro was asked if he would seek a change of venue for the case, which currently remains in Washington, D.C. The host questioned whether a fair trial could be guaranteed in a location that was politically opposite to the nation’s capital. Lauro responded by pointing out that West Virginia is more diverse than Washington, D.C., which he believes could make it a viable option for a fair trial.
West Virginia has historically shown strong support for Trump, as evidenced by his victories in both the 2016 and 2020 elections. The state’s Republican Party Chair, Elgine McCardle, expressed confidence that the latest indictment would not negatively impact Trump’s popularity in West Virginia. McCardle stated that West Virginians, like the American public as a whole, would not be swayed by political games and assassinations.
It remains to be seen whether Trump’s legal team will indeed pursue a change of venue for the trial. Ultimately, the former President is entitled to a fair trial, and his attorneys will do everything in their power to ensure this outcome.

The Constitutional prescription for trial by peers has been lawyered away. Instead, lawyers routinely shop for judges and juries biased in favor of their clients.

Another cynical attempt to subvert justice, by a defendant who cares nothing for the law, only for his own ego.
I say move the trial to Santa Cruz, California, or Santa Fe, New Mexico. Or leave it in DC... the result will be the same... LOCK HIM UP!!!

Too bad Trump has to do that.
He would be acquitted here no matter what the evidence. Moving the venue here is ludicrous.
